Birth story!

We were so happy that Penny's puppies did not come in the middle of the night! These 5 delivered smoothly and every one of them is doing so well.

We are so proud of Penny who as before has been such a wonderful mama. She seems to enjoy them so much, she loves to be with them and is delighted when visitors peek in to see them.

Of the 5 there 4 females, and one male. The females are, a black and tan with a small white stripe on her belly, one black and tan, a dapple, and one piebald with dappled ears! The male is a piebald who looked black and white at birth but his spots are coming through his coat now and such a cutie.

We have exciting news. Leeli had her litter on 10/5/24 - a special treat to have them born on this day because this is our daughter's birthday! So Leeli had one litter on my birthday and this litter on my daughters. Super sweet. She started early labor late 10/4/24 and progressed then delivered in the afternoon on the 5th. We were so glad because last spring Penny delivered her 5 sweet puppies all night! Daytime was a blessing! Each puppy birth was smooth and I'm happy to share that she had three females! Two black and tan and one dapple. One of the black and tans has a white stripe on her belly. All three have had a fabulous first 10 days, Leeli is an attentive mama and feeding and caring for them around the clock.

For those of you who follow our family journey we have normally been so quick to share these births but we had a family loss, my sweet nephew passed away 10/18 and supporting my sister and her family was our primary focus during those early weeks. Leeli is such a pro of a mom - she carefully cared for them during that time and they slept ate and grew.

Here they are in order 1-5 and #5 is actually the largest one! #2 and #3 are the females and you can see #2 is very small! She is doing really well, holding her own and growing daily! Enjoy these photos they will change so much the next few weeks! Puppy selection will happen June 9th at 4 weeks - very exciting!
